Las Olas Boulevard from Andrews Avenue to SE 17th Avenue - Western Corridor

The project consultant team, led by WSP USA Inc. (WSP), was engaged by the City of Fort Lauderdale to develop the engineering design, design criteria package, and preliminary permitting for the western corridor of Las Olas Boulevard from Andrews Avenue to SE 17th Avenue.

Las Olas Boulevard

The consultant team collected existing conditions data, including surveys, subsurface utilities, and geotechnical soil samples, to inform preliminary design. The preliminary design was presented to stakeholders and the community. The anticipated next steps are commission direction to proceed to engineering design criteria and start the preliminary permitting process. The preliminary design will be presented to the City Commission on December 16, 2025. For additional information on this effort or to provide feedback, please contact the Transportation and Mobility Department at transportation@fortlauderdale.gov.

The consultant will begin work on design plans for the Las Olas Mobility Western Corridor. Sixty percent (60%) design plans are anticipated by completion in winter of 2026.

Previous Action

The Las Olas Boulevard Mobility Project has completed several key milestones to inform the design of improvements along the western corridor, from Andrews Avenue to SE 17th Avenue. These activities include:

  • Topographical surveys, traffic analysis, and subsurface utility exploration was completed to establish accurate control points and benchmarks to ensure alignment across all design work, assess traffic operations, vehicle movements, and intersection performance, and map underground stormwater and sewer systems, which is integral to the design process of the project.
  • City staff and the project team met with elected officials throughout the months of August and September 2025 to provide updates on the preliminary design efforts and to engage in feedback and input.
  • The City held a public Town Hall meeting on November 13, 2025. Presentation materials are available here: Las Olas Mobility Western Corridor Public Meeting Presentation - November 13, 2025.pdf
  • Geotechnical soil sample collection for the western corridor has been completed, and the project team is now reviewing the findings. The recommendations will be incorporated into the engineering design, design criteria package.
  • City staff and their consultant presented design alternatives to the City Commission on January 20, 2026 for further direction.
  • The City Commission approved the conceptual designs for the Las Olas Mobility Western Corridor at the February 3, 2026 Regular City Commission Meeting.
